Bernadette’s five words are Fun, Caring, Loving, Carefree, Spontaneous. She lives in a Midwestern state with her husband and family, and the pleasures she names are simple: I love taking walks I love enjoying life enjoying the site may sound boring to some people but me and my family loves it. She tries not to judge others, because I feel we can all learn something from each other, and keeps a steady outlook: life is to short to be getting upset.

Her hardest moment, she writes, was when my mom got cancer and when my brothers died because those death was back to back, and then her own high blood pressure, scary all by itself. Her good moments are practices she took up afterward: keeping up her health so she can enjoy her family and not worrying all the time, learning to try new foods, and learning meditation: before I would be so stress and tension but when I learn to this daily I felt so much better. One reading is that her turning points are less about what happened to her than about what she chose to practice next.

Her grandmother was a firm believer in breakfast lunch and dinner and these wasnt small portions. Her mother made the children eat their vegetables, and a snack meant fruit or salad. Her diagnoses changed her plate: I never realized that eating too much of this too much of that could cause hypertension or gerd/acid reflux. She added fruit and vegetables and eats less meat. She has always loved salty foods and meats and breads and sweets, and now I can enjoy the same food but healthier choices and it doesnt taste bad. At home we all vote on what we want for dinner, and she usually cooks. Her family keeps her on track: they tell her that they love me and dont want to see me sick which pushes me to stay the course lol.

I find a quiet spot and be still dont think about nothng but hearing the quiet in the room

Bernadette, Day 4

Day 3 shows her curiosity. A brother took her to a vegan restaurant, and she went looking for the recipe for its chicken-fried cauliflower so she could make it herself. Both of her imagined ads star a Black couple; in one they order a tofu salad, and they never ate tofu before this is there first time and trying it together which is wonderful. Would she try a vegan diet? Yes I would consider trying Vegan every now and again until I can completely cut out the meats and dairy products. Of animals: I care about them and dont like cruelty done to them. Her ads place healthy food inside a couple’s shared pleasure, not a lone act of discipline.

Through hard times, I prayed and took it one day at a time. Her superpower is being humble; her weakness, stressing over it. To cope, I find a quiet spot and be still dont think about nothng but hearing the quiet in the room. Potato chips are her go-to. Her 2 a.m. person is her husband, cause he can always tell when its something on my mind. Asked how she would change the world, she would change nothing: without bad you wouldnt have good.

On Day 5 her goal is eating more healthier, for living a longer and prosperous life ,spending more times with family and friends. She plans to stop stress if I dont make my goal and take it one day at a time. Her letter ends with a wish for everyone: never give up no matter how hard things get just keep push forward and most important enjoy life.
